On December 12, 2012, I called the Tom Becka Show on KKAR. He wanted suggestion on how to do a better job of promoting Omaha. Most people that were called were talking about promoting an event or a certain destination in the city. My idea was a little bit broader. My idea was more of general slogan to promote Omaha. I suggested calling Omaha “The Surprise City”.
People who come here for the first time are always surprised how nice Omaha is. They are really surprised. The Chamber has promoted Omaha as the “Big O”. This slogan could fit in with the Big “O”. How about “O Surprise”? Omaha can promote itself as the city of many surprises.
The goal would be to let so many people know how great Omaha is that nobody would be surprised. That might take a few years, but it’s a good goal to work toward.
